Imbil to Brooloo and return
4.5km one-way – 9km return trail
Following the historic railway corridor between Imbil and Brooloo, the Mary Valley Rail Trail offers an easy-going adventure through rolling farmland, native bushland and peaceful countryside. The trail is ideal for walkers, cyclists and families looking to experience the region’s natural beauty at their own pace.
Along the way, enjoy views across the valley, spot local wildlife and stop in nearby towns to experience country hospitality, local cafés and hidden gems. With its gentle gradients and scenic surroundings, the trail is a wonderful way to connect with the landscape and uncover the stories of the Mary Valley’s railway heritage.
Bring your bike, pack a picnic or simply take a leisurely stroll — the Mary Valley Rail Trail invites you to explore further, stay longer and enjoy the freedom of the great outdoors.
Once you arrive in Imbil it is very easy to find the Mary Valley Rail Trail – it’s in the middle of town. You simply turn at the Railway Hotel into William Street and follow the avenue of trees on the right to the end. Take a sharp right and you arrive at the Rail Trail’s car park.
Head through the entry gate and onto the trail which takes you to the next township of Brooloo some 4.5km away. You return by the same route.
This is a shared Rail Trail accessible to horse riders, cyclists, and walkers. When using rail trails, respect the rights of other users, the natural and cultural environment, and the local communities that care for trail.
​Dogs are allowed on the Mary Valley Rail Trail and must be kept on-leash and under control at all times. Please clean up after your dog and leave the Rail Trail pleasant for other visitors.
